Lore Has Some Thoughts
Just some rambling that might lead to more.
I’ve been toying with the idea of doing voiceovers for all the BHP short stories.
This includes the Sabbat series, all the Market Tales, everything that’s in that tab. I don’t know if I would include anything from the Regulus series, it feels wrong for me to do voiceover for something that’s meant to be in Leon’s voice? I know I’ll never be able to get him to do it though. Unfortunately. Jack from the Gilded Age sounds almost exactly like him, so I guess you’ll have to use your imaginations.
Circling back to my main thought, I wonder if people would enjoy it. The Angus’s Trial series did fairly well numbers wise and I did read all of those aloud. I’m not overly pleased with them, I could have done a better job, but others seemed to enjoy them.
My main hesitations are thus:
It would be quite a lot of work, not just to catch up, but also recording and editing everything else from here on out. I have the time, I just don’t know if I have the bandwidth.
I genuinely do not know how to pronounce some of the names in the older coven stories. “Lore you can just learn!” Yes, I can, but still, it makes me nervous to end up still pronouncing it wrong. I live on this island with plenty of Scots Gaelic speakers and I still trip over things often. (Gaelic is hard.)
I really do not have good equipment or a setup for this, haha! I have a cheap lavalier microphone and a small walk-in closet that I’ve recorded everything else in thus far, and it’s fine, but I don’t know how much background noise is really kept out with a single door shut. Also, no, I really cannot record from my office at the FLC. It is far noisier there than it is at home.
Honestly these are all fairly small concerns in the long run, all things I could easily fix or adjust. They’re just the points that have been sticking out the most beyond “would people even enjoy this?”
But I’m likely spinning myself up for nothing, if people like it, it’ll show. And if not, oh well, I still will have done something fun for myself and the rest of Faodail.
Sinéad jokes I’ll become “the voice of Faodail” much like Cecil is “the voice of Night Vale.” In all reality it should be her, she is the Bruadarach after all. But she has plenty of other responsibilities. My personal next pick would be Vincent, but he already does every single bit of business for BHP besides this and writing the actual books. He runs this company far more than I do. Bless him.
In any case, maybe I’ll give it a night or two more thought before really deciding. I’m leaning towards doing it at the moment, but that’s not certain. I’ll sit with it. If I end up doing it, you will definitely know, haha!
